which system,which tool?

having experienced several platforms for connecting and found most of them rather frustrating, (including Boldchat that the NZ Career service uses), I'm wondering about the whole notion of having an e-learning prescence.
I find the cautions of Synapsis rather helpful. certainly Plan B is an omnipresent imperative.
alas, we don't always have one.
So we are left with the notion that the technology can (and often does) drive the pedagogy- a situation I find almost intolerable.

Love that picture Willie! Which one is the system and which one is the tool?

I think the choice is your Karen!!!! but at some point one must impact on the other?no?and that's where we get challenged. our ideals nad our values around working with people in whatever role, seem to be constantly both permitted and restrained by the tool?

But I wonder sometimes, Willie, if we let the technology constrain us? That we do not do enough exploring of technology before we find a tool that does really work...or if we let one set-back put us off...or that we let technology restrain us? It is easy to blame the technology...but is it us...do we restrain ourselves? Just a thought...
